BTS: 'See the Sun' Superhero Music Video

31st JUL 2014

CoCo and the Butterfields, perhaps the UK’s premier exponents of entirely-do-it-your-self music videos have released the latest addition to the collection - the new video for their equally new single, See the Sun. The single was released at a special show hosted at Kent’s largest venue, the Margate Winter Gardens on June 28th 2014, the video subsequently being launched on YouTube on the 31st July.

The video sees the band members take on the characters of superheroes of their own creation. Trouble is afoot when the evil Princess Pandemonium hatches a darstardly plot to steal the Sun, but help for humanity comes from Cloak and Swagger, El Fuego and General Direction when their comrade Mr Sunshine is kidnapped!

The video was shot almost entirely at the home of violinist and lead vocalist Dulcima Showan, who was also responsible for the rather fetching and according to bass player Micah Hyson ‘surprisingly comfortable’ spandex superhero attire. Dulcima is an experienced clothes maker, who is in the process of releasing her own clothing line which will be available for public purchase in October 2014.

For shots using green screen and extensive digital FX, a certain amount of improvisation was often needed...

...some shots being more comfortable to pose for than others.

Behind the lens and later the computer screen was manager Danford Showan, responsible for the camera work, hammy digital FX and final editing. CoCo and the Butterfields is a band built on a DIY attitude, and it certainly shows in endeavors such as this.

See the Sun is now available on YouTube.
